Pena Major Personal Defense Blade

The Blade Material, D2 tooling steel hardened to “Rockwell C60-63”, with the handles made from G10

The Pena is for defense. It’s not a box cutter, utility knife, or hunting knife. We designed it for optimal grip angle, reach, and cutting depth when used against an attacker.

A straight-blade knife does not comfortably point straight when held extended. To fully utilize the blade length of a straight-blade knife, you must rotate your thumb inward. This puts your blade and wrist in a strenuous position, compromising comfort and attack angles. You are giving up valuable reach and mobility based on the shape of your knife.

The Pena design eliminates this inherent problem.

With the Pena, thanks to the relationship of grip-to-blade angle, you get full use and effectiveness of the blade length without sacrificing agility. It forces the blade’s edge to catch the intended target when slashing and provides a straight stabbing motion when needed.

Our strategies and tactics in knife fighting depend on distance until distance is no longer your best option. You don’t need to stay close for trickery. “Get in, get out” can be a simplified way of putting this while inflicting the deepest possible wound channels. The Pena embodies this and was born from the shortcomings and incompatibilities of traditional knife designs with the “simple yet extremely effective” style we teach.

We know this is an extremely condensed outlook, and we can never cover training with your knife in a handful of paragraphs. If you want to learn more about our tactics, all Pena knife owners are given a free intro to knife fighting class at Reality Defense.
